But Squaw Valley / Alpine Meadows had an opportunity to stand out by expressing something unique – a level of heritage and authenticity that can’t be fabricated. "Skiing has a soul. And this is where it lives.” brought that sentiment to life. Rather than showcasing epic photography of backcountry terrain with expert skiers hucking themselves off cliffs, the campaign depicts the type of personal, memorable moments that all of us have experienced and never want to forget.

MTN ROOTS

Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows has long been known for its fast and furious ski terrain. We were asked to come up with an attention-grabbing way of announcing that their dining scene is on the move as well. So we created a food truck that would cater to the health conscious and hungry patrons while communicating their newly launched Skiing Has A Soul ad campaign. The Mtn. Roots truck boasted a menu centered on local and organic plates to entice both locals and tourists to get to the mountain and enjoy a delicious skiing experience.

Factory Design Labs was tasked with creating a brand campaign that captured the essence of Oakley’s design and innovation prowess. With competitors often featuring glossy action and staged lifestyle imagery, we wanted the design-focused campaign to rise above the clutter. After landing on Disruptive by Design as campaign tagline and mantra, we custom built a software program, merging art and technology, empowering our art directors to create a truly unique visual language – a glitched look and feel that represented Oakley’s unique, non-conformist attitude.
